The invisible cities

a musical journey to the edges of the world

inv-0283-canaletto-capriccio-800x571.jpg

Canaletto’s "Capriccio: The Grand Canal, with an Imaginary Rialto Bridge and Other Buildings" (1740–1745)

Inspired by the legendary novel by Italo Calvino, this musical narrative is a journey to allegorical places where only sound can tell us how they really are.

There are cities of all kinds: Despina, which can only be reached either by sailing across the waves of the sea or by camel across the desert dunes; cities living in constant darkness, like Smeraldina, where fireflies shape the streets and the buildings; then there is Bersabea, a city where the people, instead of looking at each other´s faces, they communicated with their shadows, and also cities that have no precise point on the map, but are anchored somewhere on the horizon, like Queiruga.

The stories of these places that are determined by how their light interacts with the life of each city create an unique sound for each of them. And are musically painted through Baroque pieces, arrangements, mixtures of styles and original compositions, giving shape to this great odyssey where the cities are invisible, yet hearable.
